Clotilde Rullaud 4tet
Show Time 8:30pm / Doors Open 7:00pm
A light year away from a preconceived vocal jazz aesthetic, Clotilde Rullaud builds a world where Gainsbourg meets Bill Evans, where Sting adapts to Jazz wonderfully, and where the landscapes of Africa and the scents of South America do not let go. Heading a quartet composed of Olivier Hutman, 7-string guitarist Dano Haider and the drummer Antoine Paganotti, Clotilde Rullaud has created a bewildering album –In Extremis. Composed of original compositions, and also revisited classics, this is an incredibly original and enchanting project.
"Like the late, great Claude Nougaro, her tastes are strikingly eclectic (...). And she has the technique and imagination to hold all the myriad influences together, helped by a cultured band. Her rich, deep timbre is a thing of beauty – the wordless vocals on the fragment of bill Evans’s Waltz for Debby are exquisite – but she can cope whenever her drummer, raises the temperature." – Clive Davis **** & ranked 5 on the list for the album of the Year 2011 (Sunday Times).
