Toby Cruse Productions presents “Paul Holgate with the ’62 Sextet”
Show Time 8:00pm / Doors Open 6:30pm
“Paul Holgate with the ’62 Sextet” is based on Frank Sinatra’s eminent world tour of 1962 which included dates in capital cities across the globe, including London at the Royal Festival Hall and Paris at the Lido. Like the earlier revered “Red Norvo” tour of Australia in 1959, the sextet featured alto saxophone and vibraphone, complementing the rhythm section of piano, guitar, bass and drums. The concerts were of their time and not to be repeated, so many of these exquisite arrangements have never been heard again live...Until now. Fifty years on, leading jazz vocalist Paul Holgate puts his own stamp on this remarkable musical anthology featuring six of London’s finest jazz musicians, all well-known artists in their own right. Veteran actor and broadcaster David Jacobs, presenter of the original Royal Festival Hall concert, sets the scene of the show by way of a recorded introduction. Following sell-out performances at Ronnie Scott’s and the Royal Festival Hall itself, this show is a must-see!
Toby Cruse (Piano), Chris Allard (Guitar), Paul Morgan (Bass), Elliott Henshaw (Drums), Anthony Kerr (Vibes), Sam Mayne (Alto Sax/Flute/Clarinet)
