The Joe Locke / Geoffrey Keezer Group
Show Detail
Sun-30-Sep (6:30pm) - £18.50
The Joe Locke / Geoffrey Keezer Group
Show Time 8:00pm / Doors Open 6:30pm

"Locke and Keezer join together again for yet another magical set of music" – EMusic.
The release of their new album 'Signing' (Motéma, 2012), long awaited follow up to the award winning 2005 release 'Live In Seattle' (Origin), finds The Joe Locke / Geoffrey Keezer Group - with drummer Terreon Gully (Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride, Kurt Elling) and bassist Mike Pope (David Sanborn, Chick Corea) - more mature, both individually and collectively, without losing any of the incendiary chemistry that defined its debut.
"The gift for communicating the joy of making music: Locke/Keezer can make complex material sound suave and tricky time signatures flow" – JazzTimes.
World leading vibraphonist Joe Locke and double Grammy nominated pianist Geoffrey Keezer are working off the energy of an audience and it becomes immediately clear that this is deep yet highly accessible music, filled with underlying challenge and complexity, but never at the expense of lyricism, virtuosity and melodic beauty.
"The most exquisite display of this well developed interplay” – Downbeat.

His first CD of his own compositions, ‘Song of the Even Dunes’, was released in 2015. It features Martin Shaw, Mornington Lockett, Robin Aspland and Alec Dankworth. Lefties Soul Connection
Show Time 9pm / Doors Open 7:30pm

Lefties Soul Connection are a Dutch funk band. Their sound is heavily influenced by the Meters and jazz/funk and soul groups from the '60s and early '70s, along with funk-hop bands such as the Roots, while the heavy organ sound brings to mind American jam band Soulive. This contemporary raw funk outfit from Amsterdam made quite a stir in the European funk community with the release of their frist single 'Doin' The Thing / Generator Oil' in December 2002, lauded by Jazzman Gerald as "only the third European funk 45 outfit (after Poets of Rhythm & Timmion collective) man enough to lay their dirty funk down on wax.”
