An Evening with Paul Dunton & Guests: Local music by candlelight
Show Time 8:00pm / Doors Open 7:00pm
Tonight’s show features local artist; Lucy Baxter. Paul says “Lucy is an absorbing live performer. She effortlessly draws the listener into her world. Her enchanting vocals and versatile tracery on the piano marks her out as one the up and coming songwriters on the local scene. Both Quirky and heartfelt she could be described as Alicia Keys meets Beverly Craven”. Search ‘Lucy Baxter’ on Youtube to find out more. Third on the bill is local songstress; Kirsty Macleod. Paul says “Kirsty is an outstanding singer-songwriter. She has that rare ability to leave you breathless, a voice that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck.” Kirsty, whose voice has been likened variously to Eva Cassidy and Amy Macdonald, lists Thea Gilmore, Jack Johnson and Paolo Nutini amongst her influences, but she also draws inspiration from her roots in the Scottish Highlands and her love of the Kent countryside. www.myspace.com/kirstymacleod88 Headlining with her band is Sorrel Nation. Less than two years into her career and with a vocal delivery that belies her teenage years, local singer-songwriter Sorrel Nation is a girl on a mission. Born to sing, she has already opened for the likes of folk legends Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick as well as John Otway, Madison Violet, 3 Daft Monkeys and the incomparable and much missed Jackie Leven. Sorrel’s beguiling voice is very much her own but with influences ranging from Norah Jones, Laura Marling and Priscilla Ahn, and a splash of Shelby Lynne and Dusty thrown in for good measure. www.myspace.com/sorrelmusic
