A first time appearance for Cut The Funk at the Music Rooms, Maidstone and we’re pleased to announce their chosen venue for the release of their long awaited self titled album. Cut The Funk are an original Jazz Funk / Soul / R&B band consisting of five professional musicians all based in Kent. In the short time they have been around they have created a great reputation for themselves as an energetic and entertaining band. Between them they have worked with a wide variety of artists from Ernest Ranglin, Maceo Parker to Madeline Bell.
Cut The Funk have had a successful year after a sold out Canterbury Festival slot, supporting the James Taylor Quartet, performing at Ronnie Scotts and also appearing on a regular basis at Charlie Wright’s Jazz Club in London. Performing music from their debut album as well as previously unheard original compositions Cut The Funk will also perform well known funk/jazz repertoire with their own musical twist.
Noel McCalla is one of Britain’s best Soul Singers. Noel sang on Mike Rutherford's solo album Smallcreep's Day and on Morrissey-Mullen's This Must Be the Place. He was the lead vocalist for Manfred Mann’s Earth Band from 1991 – 2009 and has collaborated with jazz band Dave Lewis 1Up.

In 2011 they also played a one-off concert in Poland which led to being invited back at a time convenient for the group and most recently (March 2012) ‘Bs Play B” performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
