An outstanding evening showcasing the originality and artistry of 3 exceptional female vocalists performing together for the first time so book early to make sure you don’t miss out on this wonderful evening.
This show features 3 extraordinary artists Shireen Francis, Linely Weir and Fiona Egan capturing the depth and diversity of the female voice in a range of styles.
Sisters with a Voice include original songs alongside classics. A true reflection of the creativity of today’s female artists, their songs often combine jazz with unexpected influences such as soul, rhythm and blues and calypso.
[Shireen Francis]: She tells her stories with faultless phrasing and a lucid, enchanting voice…“Quite simply, one of the best British jazz vocalists of this generation” – BBC Radio.
A warm, engaging and soulful performer, Shireen Francis has developed her own unique blend of jazz with flavours of gospel, blues, calypso and reggae. Performing with some of the country’s top jazz musicians, the combination of Shireen’s stunning expressive voice coupled with her innate musicianship has delighted audiences all around the world.
[Linley Weir]: “A new voice in jazz, one that's rooted in the classic influences of Nina Simone and Cassandra Wilson. Like those legendary vocalists, Weir's singing finds that bittersweet spot between jazz and blues” – All About. Jazz by Robert Sutton.
Linley Weir sings a hybrid of jazz, latin soul and blues including modern day classics from the Beatles to Rihanna re-interpreted with her unique sound.
[Fiona Egan]: “The music is in turn delicious, punchy, moody and cool”.
Award-winning vocalist Fiona Egan is a rising star on the London music scene, having performed at venues across the UK (incl. Vortex, Jazz Café, Pizza on the Park,) and New York (Iridium, Lenox Lounge, Cleopatra’s Needle).
Equally comfortable with classic standards and quirky reinterpretations of modern pop and rock, Fiona effortlessly blurs genre boundaries, often with surprising results. Her articulate, understated style has led to comparisons with Blossom Dearie and Julie London.
