Humphrey Barclay, veteran producer introduces... Adjoa
Show Time 8:30pm / Doors Open 7:00pm
For UK singer-songwriter Adjoa the enthusiastic reception at her performance with a band at London's famous Ronnie Scott’s Club was a sign of things to come. The audience's appreciation of her unique voice led to her appearance at many venues including Somerset House, the Royal Albert Hall and the Jazz Café. She has also worked with Cleveland Watkiss, William South, Alex Wilson and performed with the London Community Gospel Choir for the United Nations. Adjoa is currently working on her new studio album. Treat yourself to a very special evening in the intimate atmosphere of this renowned music venue.
“Adjoa's sound is very contemporary, with appeal to a wide audience and a distinctive vocal quality that enables her to make standards as well as original material her own. As a live artist she has a warm and uplifting presence .....” – John Byrne, The Stage
"Adjoa is blessed with a voice of rare depth and richness. Her deep soulful tones strike a chord that seems to encapsulate all that is good in the tradition of black music...With luck... we will be hearing much more" – Malcolm Prangell, Blues and Soul Magazine
"Adjoa takes you on a mystical journey enchanted by deep, velvet-infused vocals delivering a new sound recalling rhythms and continents, with echoes of Nina, Anita, Erykah..." – The Editor, Caribbean World
