Event Has Passed

Last Show: Wednesday 7 th December 2016

PizzaExpress Jazz Club (Soho)

Previewing his highly anticipated annual residency in the New Year (23rd-29th January), the multi-award winning singer, Ian Shaw celebrates two of his biggest influences, Joni Mitchell and the much missed David Bowie, two of popular music’s chameleonic, genius giants. This show premiered at the PizzaExpress Jazz Club over two nights this summer to sellout audiences and is back for a pre-Christmas date by popular demand. Traversing the mammoth back catalogues of these legendary artists, this unmissable new show follows a highly personal journey from the endless summers of the early seventies and New York's East Village to "our own ideals" of love, hope and the endless presence of the darker truths of recent times. With some original surprises and special guests, this will be a highly charged evening of tears, laughter...and simply great songwriting.

"Jazz singer Ian Shaw is almost too talented for his own good...a brilliant vocal chameleon"

The Telegraph

"Great jazz singers, like great comedians, are masters of timing. That Ian Shaw is a virtuoso of both disciplines, balancing standup and concert gigs, speaks to the breadth of his genius and to the singularity of his style as a singer" Jazz Times (USA)
