"Highly recommended. Excellent show, well researched and presented."

Steve Wright - Headgate Theatre

A London based singer/song writer, Catherine has been delighting her audiences on the jazz circuit for over a decade.  A charismatic and entertaining performer, she has a warm expressive tone which she uses expertly to create moods from sultry to joyous drawing on influences such as Anita O’Day, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Patricia Barber and Barbra Streisand.  Her album, Stories and Lies, released on 1st September 2017, explores her personal take on the narrative behind the lyrics of songs.  Catherine wrote four songs for this album, two of which are based on characters from classic novels and with a mix of swing, soulful ballads and latin rhythms, she tells a story with every song.

The Allure of Miss Lee explores the life and songs of jazz icon, Peggy Lee.  From humble beginnings in North Dakota Peggy Lee proved that ambition, drive and sheer hard work paid dividends.  She became a prolific songwriter, was in the entertainment industry for over 60 years and is known as one of the great female jazz innovators.  Some of Lee’s songs have always been in Catherine’s repertoire, but this project gave her the opportunity to explore the extensive back catalogue of this troubled and very talented woman.  The show charts Peggy Lee's fascinating rise to fame and help explain how she maintained her prominence on the music scene for so many years.

“I have huge admiration for this performer who was fearless in her choice of material and was very much in command of her craft and stage persona.  2020 is the centenary of the birth of Peggy Lee and I’m delighted to be reminding audiences of the brilliance of this singer.”
