Event Has Passed

Last Show: Friday 15 th December 2023

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

Following their sell out shows earlier this year, The Pheasantry is delighted to welcome back the veteran blues performer, broadcaster, actor and erstwhile pop star Paul Jones, together with the legendary guitarist John Etheridge, for two nights of festive blues infected jazz. Celebrating the spirit of Christmas, the show will include Paul’s jazz-funk arrangement of "White Christmas" and a wonderful version of the classic “What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?".

“A master class in both old and new downright dirty blues”.

Paul Jones was lead singer with the highly acclaimed and popular band Manfred Mann in the sixties, scoring several huge hits including '5432!', 'Pretty Flamingo', 'Doo Wah Diddy'. Subsequently, his solo career also produced a number of big hits - becoming a household name in the sixties. In the 1970’s he formed The Blues Band, featuring the music that was his first love and this group has toured consistently since.  Paul was also the presenter of the Radio 2 Blues Show for over 30 years.

Throughout John’s illustrious 50-year career, he has played in widely eclectic contexts, working with everyone from Yehudi Menuhin to Hawkwind, Stephane Grappelli to Soft Machine, Nigel Kennedy to Andy Summers... All the time bringing his own personality to every situation.

John recently played 3 sell out shows at the PizzaExpress Dean Street with classical guitar great John Williams, with whom John has had a 20 year association.

The quartet will be completed by Pete Whittaker (organ) and Nic France (drums).

For Blues and Jazz fans everywhere, it will be a cracker of a show!
