Acantha Lang is a blues/soul artist born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After moving to New York City, she began honing her skills and performing regularly at the Harlem Grill and the iconic Cafe Wha?, among other venues. While in NYC, she met and collaborated with Robert Randolph (and The Family Band) – named as one of Rolling Stone magazine's '100 Greatest Guitarists'. Robert asked if he could re-record one of Acantha's original songs, ‘Gonna Be Alright’, for his Sony-released album ‘Got Soul’, which went on to be nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
Acantha is also a sought-after compere – she was the first ever woman to take on the highly respected position of MC at the infamous variety show/nightclub The Box, both in NYC and London. Luminaries such as Simon Cowell, Tom Cruise, Sting and Axl Rose are just a few of the A-listers that have expressed their admiration for her voice and presence. She is currently based in London where she is writing and recording her first solo release.
