PizzaExpress Live (Birmingham)

Black female musical success is a long-standing Birmingham tradition of course, some of whom  have gone on to become  household names. Joan Armatrading, Ruby Turner, Jaki Graham, Beverley Knight and Jamelia have all peppered the charts on both sides of the Atlantic over the years. Current flag-bearers for the second city are MOBOs best female 2016 Lady Leshurr and 2013 winner Laura Mvula, the queens of Kingshurst and Kings Heath respectively.  We are proud to present one of Birmingham’s newest talents destined for big things the wonderful Affie  Jam- a "soulful tour de force". We have a feeling you will be hearing a lot more from Affie Jam.

"what I expected to be the beautifully delicate voice I know and love from Affie Jam’s recorded output. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that voice transformed into a soulful tour de force in a live setting, and no sooner had I got my breath back than she took it away again”.

Birmingham Press

Affiejam is an extremely talented  23 year old writer and musician from Birmingham. Previously performing at hot spots such as the Jazz Cafe, Jam house, Symphony Hall and Hare & Hounds. She has also supported the likes of JP Cooper, Jake Isaac and Angel. Nevertheless, with her low key spirit, she is simultaneously soulful and fierce with intricate neo-soul melodies over dulcet tones of string. A mellow adventure indeed.

Making her debut at Pizza Express Live (Birmingham), Affiejam will be performing a collection of her original music as-well-as unique interpretations of some of her favourite songs in collaboration with Vocalist Jabez Walsh and Guitarist Reuben Reynolds.

This intimate 4 piece band   will be sure to take you on an expedition. With poetic lines to match, keep an ear open especially to the lyrics, as every song tells a story but also, feel free get lost via scenic routes through the well known hits too!

Affie has been  working with others as a part of an extended journey to create music that she can be proud of sharing - both sensitive to herself as well as the listener. With the aim to create spaces of joy as well as meditation.
