An Evening with Elaine Delmar Accompanied By Barry Green

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Sunday 3 rd November 2019

PizzaExpress Live (Maidstone)

Following Elaine Delmar’s successful show earlier this year she returns to Music Room Maidstone accompanied by the very accomplished Barry Green on piano.  As one of PizzaExpress’s most popular artists, she is a favourite with both jazz and cabaret audiences and is one of the greatest female jazz vocalists to have come from these shores. Among a multitude of good jazz singers in Britain today, there are few who understand the repertoire, or express it with such dynamic simplicity and deliver it with such an enticing stage personality. Wherever she performs, Elaine thrills her audiences with her sublime delivery of gems from the great American Songbook. Tonight, Elaine will be singing some songs from her London and Broadway musical appearances including Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, The Trolley Song and Begin the Beguine.

“Fashions may change but quality is timeless which explains how the stylish Elaine Delmar has survived the passage of so many vocal trends over the years. A favourite with both Jazz and Cabaret audiences, she continues to set the standard for sophisticated rich-toned interpretations of the Great American Songbook”

London Evening Standard

Elaine who begun her career singing in working men’s clubs, has combined singing with acting notably in London shows such as ‘Finians Rainbow’, ‘No Strings’, Cowardy Custard’ and ‘Bubbling Brown Sugar’ as well as ‘Jerome Kern goes to Hollywood’ both in London and on Broadway.

Elaine was the recipient of the" Special Award for Jazz” by the 2013 All Party Parliamentary Jazz Awards.  Recently she featured in the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall as a solo jazz artist.
