Liv East is East London’s leading  songstress bringing us a honeyed fusion of Neo-soul, house and R&B. Liv has just released her debut EP ‘LVE1’, in which she assuredly moves between genres and depicts a range of emotions with ease, creating a sound that is distinctly her own. With a voice reminiscent of 90s R&B, and a curiosity to blend multiple genres, Liv brings authentic and soul to every creation. 2023 so far has seen Liv East release singles ‘You Got Me’, ‘So Badly’ and ‘Love Frequency’, which landed support from BBC Radio London, Rinse FM, The Independent, Dummy, Noctis, Vogue France, Earmilk, whilst also landing playlist support from New Music Friday UK.

"One of East London’s biggest soul prospects to emerge this year will be Liv East."

Alfitude 2023

For singer songwriter Liv East, allowing life to follow its natural flow is vital. It’s about bending and swerving with the punches and trusting the path that you’re on, confident that in the end, everything turns out exactly as it was supposed to. Such a laissez-faire approach could be mistaken for nonchalance, but not with Liv, who’s deeply devoted to her craft and entwined with singing as an essential form of expression.

Born and bred in East London, her dedication to a career in music came as a shock to her family who barely knew she could sing. But after a stint at university in Manchester, in which she was immersed in the city’s legendary dance music scene, her internal compass was sent spinning. When it settled, she took note, and from that moment on she was sent

in a singular direction - to create music. Liv’s musical career started off in 2019, working alongside Hackney’s grassroots label Root

73 (also home to the Silhouettes project) with a collaborative hip -hop / neo-soul EP. Then later on that year came the soulful dance track You’re My on Defected’s well known disco label Glitterbox - a balmy, summer day anthem that’s just soared past an impressive four million streams. Fast forward to the present day, where it continues to receive support from house music Dons such as Moodymann & Jayda G. And then there’s ‘I Miss Having Someone To Talk To’ (2020), another dollop of buoyant grooves that’s elevated by Liv’s distinctly fluid delivery. Produced with Folamour and released on his FHUO label, the track currently sits at over seven million streams.

Liv then released her first solo track Kitchen which landed heavy support from BBC Introducing. Followed by another epic dance collaboration I Need You with hugely successful producer duo KOLIDESCOPES via Defected’s latest imprint, The Remedy Project.

She’s also collaborated with a wealth of artists in recent months, including Fat Freddy’s Drop, Kid Fonque and Yarni. Finishing off the year Liv has released her debut EP ‘LVE1’, which is already making waves across the world of dance, Neo-soul and jazz.
