These three trumpet players, all members of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, went on to create their own styles with a long list of memorable Blue Note recordings. The career of Lee Morgan, cut short by a tragic shooting accident, reached a unique “zenith” with his chart topping crossover hit “Sidewinder” The distinctive tone of Freddie Hubbard led to tonal & atonal music, partnering saxophone innovators John Coltrane & Eric Dolphy Donald Byrd was one of the few, who, readily embraced fusion, funk & soul and became a major influence on the evolving style of Herbie Hancock The Barford Stoneman Quintet came together through the youth Jazz scene in London in 2016 to play music from The Blue Note Years.
