Just back from their tour in Italy, Charmaine Baines and The Anima Band are set to bring a very unique performance to Pizza Express Live. Charmaine Baines is a unique and eclectic performer and fronts the band with a diverse repertoire of Neo-Soul, Classic and Soulful House Music, Jazz & Blues, Latin, RnB and Reggae. Collaborating with acclaimed Italian pianist Gaetano Caracciolo (Anima Jazz) and the stunning talents of Wayne Scott on Drums and RiK Bridge on Bass, they bring a fusion of melodic pleasure. Following their mesmerising performance supporting the legendary Ruby Turner at the sold-out show for this year’s 21st Nantwich Jazz and Blues festival, they will be performing a captivating story book of original songs and compositions, setting the scene for a real rootsy, soulful, seductive and Gospel House Diva performance, fuelled with a passionate love of world music.

Charmaine Baines - Vocals

With an immense repertoire of Neo-Soul, Classic and Soulful House Music, Jazz & Blues, Latin, RnB and Reggae, Charmaine Baines is a unique and eclectic performer. Based in the UK, her deep passion for music and performance has seen her collaborate with some of the finest musicians, performers, producers, DJ’s and industry artists in the business.

With a successful career as a singer/song writer, she has commanded countless recorded and live performances throughout the UK and on the Continent and also for the BBC and American television. Her vocal talents have also seen her take to the stage to perform in the Broadway musical version of ‘Hairspray’ as ‘Motormouth Maybelle’ at The Regent Theatre in 2015. Performing a captivating story book of her own songs and setting the scene with her fusion of rootsy, soulful, seductive and Gospel House Diva vocals, her diverse performances continue to unfold her depth and passionate love of music and performance.

Gaetano Caracciolo - Piano

With a career that spans over 30 years and the release of 3 collaborative albums, Gaetano Caracciolo is a classically trained pianist graduating from the conservatory of Southern Italy and studied jazz in Berkeley in New York. With performances all over the world, he has played with major artists in Italy and across Europe, Cuba and Puerto Rico to learn Salsa and Merengue. Now based in England for the last 20 years, he has played with an eclectic selection of musicians including supporting Courtney Pine at Southport Jazz Festival in 2002. His love of music has inspired him to open Anima Jazz Bar in the centre of Warrington


Wayne Scott -  Drums

With impeccable and diverse drumming styles under his belt, Wayne Scott has graced the stage in many venues across the UK and Europe including Ronnie Scott’s, NEC, Birmingham Town hall in the presents of His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent, Birmingham Symphony hall, London’s Barbican Centre and many national and international festivals with a personal invitation to Trinidad and Tobago to play with Desperadoes Steel Orchestra, one of the world’s largest steel bands. His recording and performance portfolio include artists such as Andy Hamilton, Courtney Pine, Soweto Kinch, Michael Profit, Earl Sixteen, Lee Thomas -Madness. Pama International. Linval Goulding-The Specials. Ernie Mckone -Paul Weller Band.


Rik Bridge

Rik Bridge has been playing bass on the Funk, Soul and Jazz scene for over 20 years working/touring with artists such as Matha Reeves, The Three Degrees, Eddie Holman and legends from Northern Soul - Kim Weston, Brenda Hollaway, The Flirtation, The Velvelettes, The Contours, Tommy Hunt and Pat Lewis to mention a few. Working as a session bass player on a number of recording projects for Pop and Soul artists and also recording for Musical Theatre performance audio. Regular bass player with Diane Shaw performing all over the country and currently recording her second album.
