Cherise Adams-Burnett

Still just 22 years of age, Cherise Adams-Burnett is quickly becoming recognised a fiercely talented vocalist and musician. Since graduating from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music, Cherise has been invited to perform at many of the UK’s most prestigious venues and festivals ranging from The BBC Proms at The Royal Albert Hall to Love Supreme Jazz Festival.

Her performance style fuses her passion for soul and neo-soul with a great appreciation and understanding of the great jazz vocalists. Her unique delivery has won plaudits from audiences and critics and she has already been invited to collaborate with highly established artists and groups including Nu-Civilisation Orchestra, Clare Teal, China Moses and Ashley Henry.

For several years Cherise has been the vocalist for the highly inventive group Trope and they have recently released their first EP on the Jazz:Refreshed record label. The group continues to go from strength to strength with the support of the label.

Cherise owes much of her earlier development to the highly-regarded educational group Tomorrow’s Warriors. Nowadays she is glad to be involved in developing younger musicians through the same program as a both tutor and workshop leader.

Never content to rest on her laurels, Cherise continues to develop as a musician whilst being grateful for the wonderful opportunities that come with that growth.

Tomorrow’s Warriors Female Frontline

The 9-piece TW Female Frontline developed out of the award-winning Tomorrow’s Warriors Emerging Artist Development Programme based at the Southbank. The ensemble are one of our flagship performance groups, and embodies the Warrior spirit in more than just serious music talent. Playing a selection of upbeat jazz standards, funk and contemporary versions of some well-known classics, the Female Frontliners are led by Aleksandra Topczewska under the tutelage of Gary Crosby OBE. Now in its 26th year, Tomorrow’s Warriors provide support for young musicians and emerging jazz performers, especially to young women and those from diverse backgrounds.  Find our more by visiting: www.tomorrowswarriors.org
