Just embarking on his 30s, Sands has already enjoyed a remarkable career trajectory, touring and recording for many years with Christian McBride’s Inside Straight and Trio, as well as working with the likes of Gregory Porter, Geri Allen, Esperanza Spaulding and so many more, playing International Jazz Day in Cuba and world renowned jazz festivals such as North Sea, Monterey, Newport, Montreux among others.
He serves as the Creative Ambassador for the Erroll Garner foundation and is also the Artist in Residence for Monterey Jazz Festival – he was the Creative Director for the ‘Monterey Festival Band on Tour’ last year which toured all major markets and performing arts centers in the US.

"The album follows the similarly nuanced 2018 effort Facing Dragons and finds Sands continuing to develop his sophisticated brand of contemporary post-bop jazz.” — All Music
“...compositional lyricism, empathetic group interplay, and searching improvisation.” — All Music
"'Be Water's relaxed intensity alone might call Bruce Lee to mind, mirroring his storied intellect and controlled physicality.” — All Music
