Colectiva explores the spaces between Afro-Latin music and Jazzwhile reflecting on themes of sisterhood and female empowerment.Blending wild horn lines with Afro-Latin groove and experimentaltextures, Colectiva’s thoughtful arrangements are rooted in thesounds of Africa, Latin America and the diaspora, creating a genre thegroup have affectionately dubbedjazz tropicaliente(hot-tropical-jazz). Winners of the LUKAS Award for Best Alternative Act (2019) and theYolanda Drake Award in 2021, Colectiva infuse feminist activism in theirmusic, message and campaigns, and provide a reimagined take on Latinjazz that reaches far beyond the established rulebook.

Their debut single, Under The, written in collaboration with jazz pianistMaria Grapsa and released in April 2021, received huge global radioplays and DJ support from the likes of Huey Morgan and JamzSupernova on 6 Music, Jazz FM’s Chris Philips and Tim Garcia, amongstmany others.
