Playing with Myself is David Forest's sixth one-man show, and the first to consist entirely of his own material. David introduces and performs his own songs with piano arrangements by Charles Miller. The show, directed by Harry Landis, received its premiere performances to sold-out houses at The Pheasantry, Chelsea and Tristan Bates Theatre, Covent Garden, and went on to enjoy successful runs at the Brighton and Camden Fringe Festivals. David has kept up his songwriting during lockdown, and plans to include some of his new songs when he returns to The Pheasantry for a 90th Birthday performance. Fifty minutes of fun!

Playing with Myself describes his experiences as a gay man from the closet of the 1950s to the liberated 2010s. David’s self-deprecating humour appeals to women and men, young and old alike.  

David wrote lyrics for the radio series Much Binding in the Marsh in the 1950s.  He also wrote a song about the then famous film star Tyrone Power, which he called My Secret Love, never daring to perform it.  After qualifying as a solicitor, he worked for a well known City firm and became a partner, but gave it up after several years to become a London cab driver, and to write.  His features and talks for BBC Radio earned him an Equity card.  His credits also include numerous stage productions, films and TV.   He has written and performed a series of one man shows in which he accompanies himself at the piano. Playing with Myself is his sixth one-man show, and the first in which the material is entirely his own.
