"A timeless sounding feast of summery optimism and outrageous chops that tips knowing throwback winks to Parliament, D'Angelo, Prince and Michael Jackson"

Sly and The Family Stone, Funkadelic, D’Angelo and Prince are just a few of the influences UK soul singer Decosta Boyce cites as his inspirations for his latest album. Decosta himself wrote all the songs on the album, sung lead vocals, and played guitar and synths throughout.

Decosta was a regular at the packed-out Cotton Club in Islington’s open mic nights, which solidified his place in the local scene and allowed him to meet the right musicians to form his own band. With them, Decosta has landed amazing support slots for the likes of the Everly Brothers, Mica Paris, Beverley Knight, Texas and Roachford, to name just a few. He has also performed on ITV’s ‘Let It Shine’ playing guitar for Beverly Knight and become one of the main vocalists touring with the deeply respected British-American soul band Heatwave. You may have heard Decosta’s voice and remix of Bill Withers’ hit ‘Lovely Day’ on the Haven 2015/16 national TV advert. He has also backed Adele (Adele At The BBC)

Born in Stevenage and brought up by his single mum, there was never a day that went by when music wasn’t playing in the background in their house. Raised on a diet of the soul greats such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye, this music was to play a prolific part in inspiring Decosta to be the artist he is today. Having built his own studio in a log cabin in his garden, Boyce took his time producing ‘Electrick Soul’, whilst juggling touring commitments, and keeping a roof over his head producing jingles for big advertising campaigns. Bringing together the crème de la crème of London’s music scene, Boyce has finally created an album which is true to himself with some of the most established musicians in the UK.
