SIMON TOLDAM TRIO

Pianist Simon Toldam is one of Scandinavia´s most exciting and acclaimed musicians of the current generation. He has received four Danish Music Awards, including ”Rising Star” of the Danish jazz scene.

The music from his latest recording KIG OP (‘Look Up’) moves from minimalistic acoustic soundscapes to folkish piano hymns, from tuneful swing to ballads and avant-garde improvisation. Each piece relates to what you might see when taking a moment to simply stop and look up ... trees, sky, church towers, clouds, nothingness, endlessness, birds, ether ... everyday things we often forget in our everyday lives.  The effect is much like bearing witness to the random blue world above us. Nils Bo Davidsen (bass) & Knut Finsrud (drums) complete this versatile and vibrant trio and the interplay between the three shows their stunning ability to breathe as one musical organism.

MAdHAs

The four musicians in MAdHAs explore new sonic possibilities and expand on the shapes and sounds of jazz today, which they describe as ‘garage avant-garde jazz’. MAdHAs is the sound of open landscapes as well as hard grooves. The group, consisting of Swedish trumpeter Jimmy Nyborg, Czech sax/clarinet-player Lubos Soukup and Danes Emil Brun Madsen on bass and Morten Hæsum on drums, was formed in Copenhagen four years ago. Their debut CD is released in May 2016.
