After kick-starting her year with exclusive performances in Amsterdam and Antwerp, Eli Cripps returns to the UK for a special live performance in Soho this September.

‘First love, last love and all the loves in between,’ is how the singer-songwriter describes her relationship with music and understanding love in all its guises is the polemic of her debut album Mars.

Drawing inspiration from the prose of Leonard Cohen, the grace of Sade and the soulful delivery of John Legend, the singer’s voice combines the maturity of Lana Del Rey with the optimism of Corinne Bailey Rae, creating a sound that is as much modern as it is classic.

Lead single ‘These Things I’ve Seen’ is emblematic of Eli’s ability to weave personal experience into universally understood sentiments. It is both an empowerment anthem and a personal testimony of the moral complexities relationships between people create.

Poison Arrow, the album’s second single, tackles similar themes. “Like all of the songs on the album, it’s about love, loss and renewal,” she says.

This British-born, African-raised singer is nothing short of eclectic. Her influences range from musical poets such as Leonard Cohen and the ‘First Lady of Song’ Ella Fitzgerald to John Legend’s soulful sounds and Femi Kuti's afrobeats/jazz fusion.

After her recent journey on BBC’s The Voice UK,  Eli released  in 2018  her debut album.
