"Gold waiting to be discovered"

Blues Matters magazine on Emma Wilson

From the North East of England Emma Wilson came to the notice of the UK Blues scene in 2016 singing with the Supergroup at “An Evening For Jack” Shepherds Bush, London, a tribute concert to Jack Bruce. The band also featured Terry Reid, Steve Hackett, Mick Taylor and Bernie Marsden & other luminaries of Rock and Roll and Emma found herself being approached by DJs and Journalists asking “Who are you? Do you have your own recordings?”.

This encouraged Emma to gig with her own line up, gaining a larger fan base and then independently releasing her first EP in 2019 “Live & Acoustic” which received great reviews and was played extensively on the Blues radio stations as well as on the prestigious “The Blues Show with Cerys Matthews” on BBC Radio 2.

Lockdown prevented Emma from following up this success by recording her much anticipated studio album, however wanting to release music and keep her momentum flowing Emma remotely recorded 2 beautiful EPs with just piano accompaniment, Emma in one studio and the pianist in another. “Feelgood” (June 2020) reached No.1 in the UK ‘Independent Blues Broadcasters Association’ Chart – meaning it was played more than other release that month and “LoveHeart” (December 2020) reached No 2.

In 2021 Emma created another remote recording project by collaborating with Terry Reid (he in California & Emma in North Yorkshire) releasing a Double A Side Single, both songs “See You in the Morning” & “Nuthin” are written by Emma and played on and produced by Terry. The quality of these original tracks opened Emma up to a new audience and created a buzz around her imminent new album which at that time was still very much on the horizon as lockdown still gripped the UK.

That said Emma had done enough to be nominated by the ‘UK Blues Federation’ as “Emerging Artist of The Year 2022” which went to public vote and she then won.

Finally able to record her album with her dream band - Mat Hector (Drums) Mark Neary (Bass/Organ) & Adam Chetwood (Guitars) “Wish Her Well” was released May 2022 with a distribution deal with “Select O Hits” (Memphis) for North America and “Proper Music UK” for UK, Europe, NZ & Australia and representation from the legendary USA Publicist Frank Roszak the album has received outstanding reviews across the world and is currently riding high in Blues Charts Internationally.
