Scaramouche with Strings attached!
Sounds of the Mediterranean meet Brazilian rhythms and Baroque arpeggios in ‘Scaramouche’ in a new version for string ensemble. With original music created by guitarist Serci and lyrics by Campus, Scaramouche is a melodic and poetic journey inspired by the Sardinian roots of these two London based artists. With songs in tribute of Hermeto Pascoal and Chico Buarque and poems by Jack Hirschman and Maria Carta, moments of reflection and irony are layered in the mellifluous music. The title refers to masked theatre of the Commedia dell’Arte, which was also used for the duo's warmly-received recording. The two artists are now joined by the versatile Keld Ensemble String Quintet to mark the 5th anniversary of the Theatralia Jazz Festival. The evening will be interspersed with personal testimonies from Elena Remigi’s book ‘In Limbo’ in the form of 'love letters' in homage to London, presented by actress Natasha Stanic Mann.
