Bassist, band leader and co-founder of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Gary Crosby OBE heads a special line-up of his quartet plus outstanding guest vocalist CHERISE for this EFG London Jazz Festival show bringing a new aesthetic to the jazz standard.

Drawing on the title of one of the great Betty Carter’s finest tunes, Moving On will dig deeper into Carter’s musical legacy; a career that saw her share the stage with Charles Mingus and Wes Montgomery and continue through to her iconic recording of Baby It’s Cold Outside with Ray Charles. With this spell-binding vocalist as an inspiration, Crosby will lead a night of standard re-invention.

An alumnus of Tomorrow’s Warriors, CHERISE went on to study at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and has honed a sound which she says celebrates “all the musical styles that I love without being defined strictly by any particular genre.” As comfortable performing at the Royal Albert Hall or London Jazz Festival as she is alongside Nubiyan Twist and Corinne Bailey Rae, CHERISE moves effortlessly between worlds with an ease which belies her age and was awarded Jazz FM’s Vocalist of the year in 2019 and Vocalist of the Year by the Parliamentary Jazz Awards in 2020,
