GT’s Records was founded in September 1983 with the production of Pato Banton’s ‘Never Give In’. The album was immediately licensed to Primitive Man Records in the USA and then taken over by Mile Copland and Jay Boberg’s IRS Records, a subsidiary of MCA Records USA. GT’s follow up production came with the release of Peter Spence ‘Don’t leave Me Lonely’ and Hit Album ‘I’ll Be There’. 'Ah Me Dis’ and ‘Saphpia and Steel’ by Tippa Irie and Peter Spence were also subsequently licensed to IRS Records USA and Island Records UK.

Tonight they will be showcasing four of Birmingham’s brightest talent featuring  Miss Aliya, Lucy Tennyson, Jbeatz and Darshae McKenzie backed by the smoking My Boyz Beatz band.

Miss Aliya embodies a sound that is a cross between the legendary Whitney Houston and Beyonce - but with her own, unique touch. This 16 year old is a strong, distinctive, talented vocalist, dancer and an energetic performer with a style that fuses 70’s diva with 90’s funk.

Lucy Tennyson grew up in Birmingham with a dream to leave for bigger, better things. Singing before she could even talk, she realised she had a natural talent at a very early age. Starting out as a young, determined girl with a passion for the stage, she built her confidence over the years through hard work and passion and transformed into a young, professional female artist. Her secondary education at a specialist Performing Arts Academy encouraged her to pursue her dreams, and gave her the freedom to express what was bursting to get out. Lucy landed a gig at a charity ball at the age of 13 where she met Grantley 'GT' Haynes - from that moment forwards they have been working together  and developing her voice into the intoxicating, smooth, professional standard it is today. This young woman is strong, fearless and independent and her voice exudes inner confidence and power. A soulful, sweet mix of her influences (including R&B, Pop, a splash of Soul and a pinch of Rock), her sound is hypnotic and about to take the world by storm.

Singer/songwriter Jbeatz AKA Jason Haynes was born in Birmingham. Jason’s musical journey begun at the tender age of 3 years old when he used to watch his father Grantley GT Haynes working with artists he used to manage and produce, mainly in the reggae music industry at the time, such as Pato Banton, Tippa Irie and gospel reggae artist, Peter Spence. Jason used to accompany his father to the studio when he was working with other producers, such as Drummie Zeb of ASWAD and David Hinds of Steel Pulse and UB40. This was a phenomenal training ground for the young impressionable Jbeatz and he was given many a lesson by his older peers.
In the year 2000’ Jason begun experimenting on his own with his uncle GMAN and his cousin KB. Jason then became known as Jbeatz because of his ability to craft out a range of drum patterns and infectious melodies. Jbeatz produced a mix-tape called ‘Fully Trapped Volume 1’ that caught the attention of local radios and particularly the young people of Birmingham. Almost at the same time, Jbeatz recognised that he had a voice for singing. Gusting on a number of tracks for other artists, his name became synonymous of the hooks he started to write.
