For the first night of his residency at Dean Street, Gwilym Simcock launches his new organ project 'The Bulbous Juggernaut' with his longstanding guitar partner Mike Walker, with whom he works in The Impossible Gentlemen, alongside Laurence Cottle on electric bass and drummer James Maddren. As Gwilym tells it "The Bulbous Juggernaut is a collection of four great chums, who were thrown together by circumstance, and who are determined to get their money's worth. Between us, in a wide variety of combinations, we have racked up a massive amount of playing hours, air miles, pool games, and pies together." These bonds are crucial to an almost telepathic understanding between the musicians, and makes the music they play together fizzle with energy, emotion and a general wanton abandon - "featuring music from an album we might make one day, which might be called 'Hoo-hah'...".
