In The Mood – Blitz 1940s Cabaret

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Sunday 30 th April 2023

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

The popular 1940s cabaret ‘In The Mood’ returns for another evening of entertainment from that most famous of decades. This event is a spin off from the annual 1940s Big Band Blitz gala that was staged between 2000 and 2019, and had a special feature in BBCs Strictly Come Dancing in November 2009. ‘In The Mood’ features some of the best big band music and songs from the 1940s, with The Jon Bennett Band (whose many appearances include BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing), plus a host of ‘showbiz’ guest vocalists, comedy from Viv the Spiv, and a few surprises. This will be a very special 1940s night.

Among the featured ‘showbiz’ guest singers will be the acclaimed jazz vocalist and television impressionist, Esta Rae (Who Do You Do for Central Television); the excellent vocalist Nicola Anne; and Mr Showbiz himself, vocalist and entertainer Peter Hammerton (from the legendary 60s band ‘The Others’); plus the ever popular comedian Ian Dawson as Viv the Spiv, the man with the black market goods, whose many appearances have included the London Palladium. And there will be a touch of authentic Piaf with the critically acclaimed Susan Black, described by the Stage as an international Diva with a voice that can fill the Albert Hall without a microphone. In addition there will be some special surprises, including the new big band vocalist Amy Hollingsworth

In The Mood – 1940s cabaret will help benefit the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity. This will be an evening to remember.

Enjoy your return to the 1940s.
