Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln weren’t just great jazz vocalists – they were also songwriters, who contributed some key works to the canon. In Women’s Words, Sisters Stories, vocalist Ineza and the Alex Webb Trio explore the repertoire penned by the great female songstresses, with the help of star trombonist Rosie Turton.

Ineza

Ineza is a Rwandan-born Belgian Jazz singer, based in London. She is a graduate of both Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and Maastricht Conservatoire in The Netherlands. Ineza was one of only eight artists to be awarded a place at the second edition of artist development program LEAP organized by international music producers Serious. She is also a passionate educator, and next to her work as a singing teacher she has been involved in various workshop-leading projects. Alex Webb is a pianist, arranger and songwriter with a long history of working with leading jazz vocalists; his songs have been recorded by Liane Carroll, China Moses, Jo Harrop, Allan Harris, Cherise, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and many others.

Rosie Turton

Trombonist, composer and producer Rosie Turton is a rising star on the UK music scene, cited by The Guardian as ‘One To Watch’ and nominated for Jazz FM’s ‘Breakthrough Act of the Year 2020’. She released her debut LP, ‘Rosie’s 5ive’, with Jazz Re:freshed in early 2019 and her latest EP ‘Expansions and Transformations: Part I & II’ in 2021. Rosie’s musical path is defined by her unwavering desire to explore new territories: sounds, textures and collaborations, blurring the lines between the acoustic and electronic universes.
