When former Broadway singer Elasea Douglas and bassist Sadiki Pierre met in 2013, they didn’t imagine that their different musical paths would be in harmony. Elasea’s impressive accomplishments included being part of the original Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning show FELA! and starring in a celebrated Off-Broadway production of Dreamgirls. Meanwhile, Sadiki had dabbled in learning the bass and quickly gained recognition for his ability to play many styles, including Classical, Jazz, and R&B. Once they felt their seductive chemistry, they formed Acute Inflections.
Known as “New York’s Jazzy R&B Duo,” they have captivated audiences with their unique twists on popular songs from every genre, their own powerful original music, and engaging shows. Once described as “a velvety mix of Erykah Badu & Billie Holiday paired with the cool grooves of her 007 on bass,” eL and Sadiki have performed at legendary venues such as Birdland, Rockwood Music Hall, City Winery, Cotton Club, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. They have four full-length albums to their name and have opened for Patti LaBelle, Sting, Jennifer Hudson, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Keith Urban. Their corporate clients include Google, JPMorgan Chase, Tiffany & Co, The United Nations, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Acute Inflections engages their audiences by using freestyles, call-and-response, and sassy banter sprinkled with humor, to interact with crowds in fun ways. Their focus on spreading messages of Love and Togetherness has earned them praise as being both “a breath of fresh air” and “the music of the moment!”
Celebrating ten years as Acute Inflections, the couple is currently promoting their fifth studio album, Let Go, and will be touring Sicily with their fans this September.
