Multi-instrumentalist soul singer Jake Henry and his amazing band formed from some of Birmingham’s finest session players, will be bringing the show back home during their UK tour, performing tracks from their latest album ‘One of the good guys’ mixed in with some classic R n B hits. After a stream of high profile gigs and radio appearances including The Mostly Jazz festival and BBC introducing, the show has become more energetic and refined than ever with the band making more of a name for themselves’ with their funky Soul/Rock grooves. Working as one of Birmingham’s busiest session players mostly known for his expertise on the piano, performing nationally and worldwide, Jake has honed his skills as an instrumentalist and performer taking influences from many genres of music. That said, listen to Jake’s music and you will hear jazz, funk and blues subtly oozing from it. On the subject of artistic influences to his latest body of work ‘One of the good guys’, Jake admits he is strongly influenced by soul artists such as Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Bill Withers, James Brown to more rock roots artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan. “If I can even remind you of any of those people, I’m more than happy with that”.

Writing prolifically, Jake is as comfortable in the studio as on the road and admits he is so lucky to work with such amazing musicians who make it possible to create and perform original music in a world that is getting tougher and tougher for unsigned artists. The band, collectively have performed at some of the biggest shows in the UK and Europe from the NEC to Glastonbury.
