This brand new trio, led by former Royal Academy jazz student Jake Werth, and completed by Guildhall alumni Robbie Ellison and Joe Lee, dedicates itself to swinging in the richly varied traditions of hard bop and bebop. Performing some well-known (and some lesser-known) compositions by the great pianist Cedar Walton, and modern-day New York giant David Hazeltine, this group promises an exciting afternoon of straight ahead piano trio music. Taking its inspirations from the trios of Ahmad Jamal, Barry Harris, Cedar Walton, David Hazeltine, Bill Charlap, and many more, the trio’s debut at Dean St follows the group’s involvement in three sold out shows at the club, as the rhythm section for London-based hard bop sextet, Jessop Jessop Jessop.
