PizzaExpress Classical Song Series:
James Gilchrist & William Vann
The Pheasantry (Chelsea)
James Gilchrist began his working life as a doctor, turning to a full-time career in music in 1996. James’ extensive repertoire in concert and recital has seen him perform in major concert halls throughout the world and he is celebrated as perhaps the finest Evangelist of his generation. He is joined by William Vann at the piano for a fascinating programme of two halves to conclude this Autumn series of classical song at the Pheasantry: the first focusing on the songs of the three Gloucester composers Howells, Gurney and Novello and the second showcasing Robert Schumann’s famous cycle Dichterliebe (“A poet’s love”).
