Jason’s career in musical theatre began some five years ago. He has performed in a number of smash hit musicals since making his 2012 West End debut in the Olivier Award-winning Sweeney Todd, co-starring with Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton as Italian barber Adolfo Pirelli. In 2014, he starred as Leo Bloom in the critically acclaimed production of Mel Brooks’ The Producers.  And last year he received rave reviews in the lead role of Caractacus Potts in the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Jason Manford says: “I feel so incredibly lucky to have been asked to record this album especially with a respected record company like Decca – what are they playing at?!! From singing with my Nana’s band as a young boy to appearing in huge musical productions, I've loved singing for as long as I can remember. It's been a treat to perform my favourite songs and it’s been great to share some of the experience along the way with many of my fans on Facebook. Their support and both my Nana’s passion for music has led to this momentous moment in my life. Hope you like it.”

Tom Lewis, Director of A&R at Decca, says: “Everyone knows Jason for his incredibly successful TV and comedy career, but what is less known is what extraordinary success he’s had on stage as a singer, and we’re delighted to be showcasing his voice on this wonderful new album.”

The Mancunian stand-up’s ‘day job’ keeps him very busy too – he hosts the hit prime-time ITV game show Bigheads, has a weekly Sunday show on Absolute Radio and sells out comedy tours across the country.  He now has a full-length debut album in the pipeline to add to his impressive repertoire. ‘A Different Stage’ will be released on Decca Records in early autumn, ahead of his 2018 year-long UK comedy tour, with a brand new show ‘Muddle Class’.
