Javajam were formed in 2007 by Sarah-Jane Hassell, keen to explore her love of Jazz after a highly successful career in West End Theatre. Just a small selection of shows she has appeared in include Les Miserables, Phantom Of The Opera, My Fair Lady, Doctor Dolittle and Miss Saigon. She was initially joined by her sister Bonnie, also a successful performer and pianist Roger Lewin, who is a PizzaExpress favourite and one of the most in demand piano/keyboards players in the business.

They were soon followed by drums, bass and saxophone and their early repertoire showcased their lovely close harmonies with tunes from the likes of Manhattan Transfer and the Andrews Sisters. Over the years the set has expanded to feature a highly eclectic mix of Jazz, Bossa Nova, Pop and Swing with songs often reworked with bespoke arrangements. Bonnie stopped being a full time member in 2015, but now and again comes back to sing with the band by popular demand.

Javajam are a very popular and well loved band around the South East, and sometimes beyond. Just some of the venues delighted by Javajam and their musicians include Ronnie Scotts, The 606, The Bulls Head Barnes, The Savoy, Claridges, The Oriental Knightsbridge, Bovey Castle, Leeds Castle, Chilham Castle and Ightham Mote.
