Jeanie Barton’s Noel and Cole

Event Has Passed

Last Show: Sunday 26 th January 2020

The Pheasantry (Chelsea)

A delightfully delicious soirée of the songs and stories of singer-songwriter contemporaries, Noel Coward and Cole Porter. During the 1930s and beyond these two flamboyant characters dominated the pop, jazz and cabaret scenes both sides of the Atlantic. Their life stories had much in common, leaving lasting musical legacies. Hits like I Get a Kick Out of You and Mad About the Boy are sung by Jeanie (flexing her digits at the grand piano for some numbers) with Stephen Sherriff on tenor sax/piano, Jason Simpson on double bass and Sophie Alloway on drums.  It will, of course, be terribly, terribly good!

"Jeanie’s vocals are a touch of class with a sound that is both stylish and personal and characterized by a refreshingly English delivery…”

John O’Neill, former Jazz critic, The Sunday Times

After years as a principal in the National Youth Music Theatre, Jeanie studied jazz harmony at Morley College in London as well as improvisation with BBC Jazz award winner Anita Wardell and also cut her teeth as singer and compare for bebop pioneer Laurie Morgan’s trio, fronting their famous North London weekly gig, Downstairs at The King’s Head in Crouch End for over a decade.

She went on to support Georgie Fame, sing backing vocals for Luddy Samms (The Drifters) and recently performed for Samuel L Jackson as well as other A list celebrities, singing Bond songs in front of British Icons like Shirley Bassey and Pierce Brosnan.

Credits include performances at The Jazz Cafe, The 606 club, Ronnie Scott’s and The National Theatre, as well as a cruise on the Seine in Paris and the Cannes Film Festival.  Jeanie was voted “Best Newcomer” at the Marlborough Jazz Festival 2015.
