A rare opportunity to see the Jessica Lauren Four band, re-formed for a few specially chosen gigs. They’ll be playing a selection of tunes from their celebrated album released on Freestyle Records in 2012 as well as material from Jessica’s previous album ‘film’. Keyboard player and composer Jessica Lauren together with her band mates, bassist Andrew Kremer and percussionists David Booie Gallagher and Paul Gunter, adeptly weave together an intoxicating cocktail of blues and soul, jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms, combined with elements of ambient dance music, always interesting, absorbing and surprising.

Jessica Lauren Four first played together 15 years ago, appearing at the Kontrapunkt Festival in Zagreb, Croatia supporting the great Brazilian jazz funk band Azymuth, and it was apparent straight away that it was a magical combination.

There was something about the way the congas and timbales worked together that breathed space and elasticity into Jessica's compositions, and the fact that Jessica and Andrew had been playing together for some years and Booie and Paul went way back instantly formed a tight musical family.

Jessica’s tunes, often quite minimalist, call for a very open approach stylistically, so Andrew also being a successful film and television composer and Paul a long-time member of radical percussion group Stomp makes for a genre-busting blend of sounds and influences.

On the surface the music sounds simple, big-hearted, entertaining, and always with a hypnotic groove, but underneath lies a rare sensitivity, spirituality and a deep emotional intent.

Freestyle Records will be releasing Jessica’s new album ‘Almería’ in 2018, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do something special in the meantime, and the idea of re-forming Jessica Lauren Four was too good to miss. This gig is sure to be a joyous occasion indeed.
