Rising star Jo Harrop is joined by one of London’s finest swinging outfits, The Denmark Street Big Band, performing the hit songbooks of, Anita O’Day. A self-confessed “Song stylist” Anita O’Day was one of the coolest jazz vocalists on the jazz singers’ scene, but also had a warmth and intimacy to her voice, which reflected her often turbulent journey through life. Jo and the band swing through some of the vast repertoire of Anita’s original hip, high energy, arrangements from the likes of Billy May, Buddy Bregman & Marty Paich, as well as highlighting some of the small band numbers from’ Jazz On A Summers Day’, and ‘Anita Sings The Most’, with Oscar Peterson. Numbers such as ‘Tea For Two’, ‘Johnny One Note’, ‘I Love You’, ‘You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To’, ‘Get Out Of Town’, ‘Love For Sale’, ‘Four Brothers’ and many more.

Jo Harrop is a jazz singer who has a refined warm & mellow sound evoking the greats such as Anita O’Day, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn & Billie Holliday and has graced many prestigious stages and studios around the UK & Europe, including the 606club London, The Royal Albert Hall, Elgar, The Gateshead Sage, The Jazz Cafe, Pizza Express Jazz, The Hideaway, Zedel, Twickenham Jazz, & many other regional jazz clubs, and recent Jazz Festivals include, Scarbourough, Durham, Burton Agnes, Smoked & Uncut, as well as beginning to play on the Paris and Rome jazz scenes.

Before making a name for herself on the jazz scene, Jo started off her career as a singer/songwriter, and also provided backing vocals for international stars, such as, Leanne Rimes, Enrique Iglesias and Neil Diamond, as well as writing and recording a song for Acoustic Alchemy’s album “Radio Contact”. She supported The Blind Boys Of Alabama, and her music has been featured on both Courtney Pine & Huey Morgans BBC Radio shows, and also live performances on Jazz FM, The BBC2 Bob Harris show, BBC London, BBC Humberside, Beverly FM. Howard Blake OBE has been quoted as being ’smitten' with Jo’s voice.
