In tonight’s show one of London’s leading ladies of jazz -cabaret comes together with one of Paris’s favourite operatic tenors, to pull together the vast world of song and re-examine what we mean by a ‘standard' or 'art song’. With songs taken from more than a two hundred - year span. With new interpretations and arrangements of well loved songs from the classical, pop and jazz repertoire.

Joanna Strand and Olivier Dumait met while studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Olivier has gone on to pursue a successful career as an operatic tenor and actor with recent appearances at the Berlin opera and the Avignon theatre festival. He will be appearing at the Paris opera in the autumn. Joanna has recently appeared at Birdland and 54 Below in New York, and is a regular at The Pheasantry and The Crazy Coqs in London. She also appears regularly in West End shows as an actress and is currently covering the role of Madame Giry in Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Haymarket.

With arrangements of Faure, Debussy, Brel, Legrand, Britten, Rogers and Hammerstein and more by tonight’s pianist and musical director, John Bailey, with Yaron Stavi on double bass, and Jason Reeve on drums.
