One of the leading lights of UK’s bright burning jazz movement Joe Armon-Jones - the prodigious child of two musicians - began playing piano at the age of 7. Like many of the scene’s young stars he is an alumni of both Tomorrows Warriors and Trinity Laban Conservertoie. As well as being a founding member of the Ezra Collective he has performed with a wide range of artists from Pharoahe Monch, to ATA KAK, and is a regular fixture in the bands of Nubya Garcia & Mr Jukes. In September 2017 Joe released a duo project with producer Maxwell Owin entitled 'Idiom', which was released on Peckham based label YAM Records, selling out within days of release. It features Nubya Garcia, Oscar Jerome and Jake Long, and was described by Vinyl factory as "A record that captures the jazz routes and roots coursing through London at the moment, tying together the convergent legacies of broken beat, house, 2-step and fusion that having been coalescing south of the river for some time.” 2018 Joe contributed a track “Go See" to Brownswood’s We Out Here project -The Wire described his playing as sounding like post-flying Lotus MPC bashing beat cut ups. His debut LP is due for release May 4th 2018.
