IDMC are around twenty-five members from various backgrounds who share a common Christian faith and belief. The choir’s music is both infectious and inspirational, with a global message of love, hope, joy and peace. As John often says ‘Gospel is who we are’. Led by award winning musician, choir director and founder John Fisher, the choir have managed to amass a total of nine albums and various single releases containing legendary gospel soul funk classics, including Soul Food, Don’t Lose Your Song, Season for Love and Walk with Me (recorded live at north London’s famous jazz venue – Jazz Café).

The latest album offering Hideaway Live(recorded live at South London’s Hideaway Jazz Club) made its debut in 2017 with a deluxe re-release and album launch at the Jamaica High Commission in early 2018, celebrating 24 years of the choir. Now the latest single, My Change has Come, brings the choir into full fruition celebrating 25 years this year.

The choir have celebrated well in 2018, having been finalists in the BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year and also winning both Premier Gospel Radio Gospel Choir of the Year and an Urban Music Award for Best Gospel Act 2018. But at the start of 2019 suffered a major blow, when all of the choirs equipment and 25 years of memorabilia’s for both the choir and John Fisher, went up in smoke when the storage unit they held everything in, caught a flames. Many chipped in to offer donations and well wishes for the choir, and some fellow music ministers held a benefit concert. This helped the choir carry on their ministry this year thus far, though not replacing most of what was lost. John Fisher and the choir remain in good stride and will not allow this blow to hamper with the ministry at hand.

To celebrate their work over the past 25 years, the choir was nominated once again for Choir of the year at Premier Gospel Awards 2019, honoured at the Minister’s Appreciation Ball 2019 for their contribution to gospel over the past 25years and both John Fisher and IDMC were also nominated this year at the National Diversity Awards, yet to take place. As the year goes on, they continue to be blessed and recognised for their efforts within both their communities and internationally, for their contribution to Gospel Music.

As well as the traditional ministerial duties of a gospel choir, IDMC have performed to varying audiences both home grown and all around Europe, the choir have had many high-profile collaborations with artists and organisations such as:Matt Goss, Michael Bublé, Lukas Graham, Luciano Pavarotti, Jahmene Douglas, Avery Sunshine, X Factor, Jermain Jackman, Cilla Black, Heather Small, Jason Mraz, Sting, Gron Koncert 2018, Tinderbox Festival, London Olympics, McDonald’s, KFC, Brooke Ligertwood, née Fraser (Hillsong church) and BBC TV.
