Kara Grainger’s music career began in a small suburban town of Sydney Australia and since then has taken her on an incredible journey throughout the globe. Joining her brother’s band Papa Lips at age 16, Kara toured consistently throughout Australia and the band released two studio albums
Moving to Los Angeles in 2008, Kara released her critically acclaimed debut album “Grand and Green River”, which charted in the US, and remained in the top 30 Americana charts for 38 weeks.
Since then Kara has made three further albums. "LA Blues" pays tribute to some of Kara's earliest blues inspirations. “Shiver and Sigh", produced by Grammy award winner David Z, features some of LA's finest musicians, including Mike Finnigan, Hutch Hutchinson, James Gadson and Kirk Fletcher, among others. Kara’s latest album “Living With Your Ghost” peaked at No 3 on the Billboard charts following its release in 2019.
After spending a number of years living in LA and Austin, Kara moved to Nashville in 2018, where she currently resides.
Her live performance engagements have taken her all around the globe, including Indonesia, India, Japan, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Spain, UK, USA and her native Australia.
Her debut 2015 tour of the U.K. featured a show in London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s Club. A second successful tour followed in 2017, but her planned return to the U.K. in 2019 has had to be postponed until this year, due to Covid restrictions. Kara can’t wait be be back in front of live audiences in the U.K. this year.
