The Stage

Katie is known for her warm and versatile vocals and heartfelt, genuine storytelling. As well as singing selections from her hit album such as her version of On The Street Where You Live from My Fair Lady and Who Will Buy? from Oliver!, she will also showcase songs from her new EP Something’s Coming which features the West Side Story classic and No One is Alone from Into The Woods.

Katie has had a wide-ranging career and sings in many different capacities from intimate jazz sets in London's top clubs to being a concert soloist with symphony orchestras in some of the UK's most prestigious concert halls. Just in the last year she has sung with The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, The London Concert Orchestra, The City Of Birmingham Orchestra and The John Wilson Orchestra. She features on the John Wilson Orchestra’s Cole Porter in Hollywood album and sings on the Mamma Mia 2 soundtrack and has provided vocals on many BBC 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night with Capital Voices and Maida Vale Singers. She also sings with Pizza Express regulars Down For The Count and the pop/funk band Latimo.

She has also enjoyed a fruitful musical theatre career and she has just played The Girl in the Andrew Lloyd Webber one woman musical, Tell Me On A Sunday at The Old Laundry Theatre. Other musical theatre credits include: The Knights of The Rose, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sweet Charity, The Last Five Years, By Jeeves.

Ever since the jazz genre developed, songs from the shows have always featured heavily and Katie Birtill shines brightly when combining her two loves on stage. This show Something’s Coming showcases some of those that have a firm place in the American Songbook and mixes them with more contemporary musical theatre songs that lend themselves wonderfully to jazz but until now have not yet been explored.
