Event Has Passed

Last Show: Saturday 29 th October 2016

PizzaExpress Jazz Club (Soho)

Writing and singing songs that would be at home in the American South, Katy Hurt brings a fusion of modern Country and Blues to our stage. After her last two single releases reached numbers two and one respectively in the UK Country Charts, Katy spent this summer playing the festival circuit to much critical acclaim. Recent collaborations with some legendary artists, like Mo Pleasure (who previously worked with Ray Charles, George Duke, Michael Jackson) and Jose Feliciano (George Benson, Natalie Cole) followed, along with two BCMA nominations for Song of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.

“Katy’s sweet voice on Sweet Annie was almost spiritual and the absolute moment of the festival”

Still only 19 years old, Katy has wowed crowds across the country at some big-name events this summer. Performances at Henley Festival (where Katy performed her own set and also guested with Jose Feliciano, along with Will Young) and both CarFest events garnered much critical acclaim. At the Buckle & Boots Festival her duet on Sweet Annie with Sonia Leigh was described by one respected reviewer as “almost spiritual, with Sonia’s gravely rasp mixing with Katy’s sweet voice along with half of the tent singing in what was for many the absolute moment of the Festival”.

Katy grew up in the States, where she gained an understanding and appreciation of the Country sound before moving to southern England, where she currently lives. She made her first recording at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis when she was just 13. No wonder this girl has got the Country bug!
