The Obsessions Octet was founded in 2005 and over a ten period has established itself as one of the finest chamber jazz groups in North America. The distinct sound of this group is an elegant blend of classical, Latin, jazz and electronica, and includes in its repertoire music by Kent Sangster and Latin legends, Astor Piazzolla and Chucho Valdes.

The Obsessions Octet has put out three notable recordings:  OBSESSION (2006), earning a Western Canadian Music Award anda Juno nomination for "Best Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year". Their sophomore release MELODIA (2010) was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for “Best Jazz Recording,” and the most recent release STEPPIN’ UP (2016) has been receiving significant national airplay and several positive reviews of date.

Live performance highlights include the Obsessions Octet debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, Oct 6, 2012. The 2014, 21 Day, 12 concert tour of Greece, Poland and the Czech Republic. In June of 2016, the Obsessions Octet represented Alberta as part of the O’Canada series at the Rochester International Jazz Festival and during July and August of 2017 the Obsessions Octet will be touring England, Poland and Hungary.
