Lana-May began her musical career in the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, playing at the world’s most prestigious venues, and commemorating the most important ceremonial and historical events, both at home and abroad, for almost ten years.  After hanging up her pith helmet, Lana has since made a name for herself as  ‘The Vintage Clarinettist’ – performing as the bandleader and clarinettist of Amy Baker’s female-fronted swing band ‘The Rhythm Sisters’ at venues and events such as The Goodwood Revival, Crazy Coqs, Toulouse Lautrec, Victorious Festival and The Hideaway, to name a few.  In 2020, Lana-May recorded her debut EP ‘Home Grown Recordings’ – playing, recording, and mixing every instrument herself from a make-shift sound booth in her living room, and has had the desire and dedication to focus entirely on the traditional New Orleans style of playing ever since.  Taking inspiration from Benny Goodman’s choice of instrumentation for his small ensemble recordings, whilst utilising her own unique sound and love for traditional jazz and blues – The Lana-May Trio was born, being premiered at the very first opportunity it could on May 17th.   Having played a sold-out show at Pizza Express Holborn with the Rhythm Sisters,  Lana-May is now incredibly excited to present and debut her trio at The Pheasantry.
