Every week in selected PizzaExpress restaurants, for the past two years, our Live Playlist musicians have been entertaining guests up and down the country. Unsigned Sessions takes this to the next level, giving four different acts a chance to showcase their own material in front of industry and audiences in London. Come to see tomorrow’s biggest stars as they begin their journey to fame! July's show is with Steve Morano, Elliot Porter, Evert Outen and Frankie Swain.

Steve Morano + Elliot Porter + Evert Outen + Frankie Swain

Steve Marano 
Country/Folk & Blues Influenced artist - writes heartfelt soulful catchy sing along songs that stick in your mind. Performances include a tour of Nashville, Tennessee and west coast USA a 5 year stint of the main stages at Guilfest Music Festival. A tour of Australia with a self-funded recording project with band Hank.

Independent releases include Jacksons Corner & Devil is a bullet. Currently working on a new recording project with top producer Mick Boggis who has  worked on many blockbuster hit films and with all the greats. Entitled "BrickLane" the intent is for a non digital Vinyl only release. 11 new tracks which cover the normal romantic topics but also address current political problems we face. Hopefully this album will help break down recent barriers that are being built and help change peoples perception  for the better of  what's really happening in the world today.

Elliot Porter
Elliot Porter is a singer songwriter based in Cambridge in the U.K who has just finished recording a new album. Inspired by songwriters including Damien Rice, Glen Hansard and Neil Young, Elliot Porter self-produces, blending emotive and powerful chord arrangements with catchy tunes and strong vocals.
Elliot’s debut E.P 'Sleeping Under The Stars', November 2012, includes the track ‘She Only Goes’ which immediately went to number one spot on Cambridge 105FM’s unsigned chart where it held top position for 13 weeks. Elliot reached the area finals of the Open Mic UK Competition.
Elliot was nominated for Best Male Solo Artist at The Cambridge NMG Awards and appeared on their charity Christmas single, which received Radio airplay from BBC Introducing.
Elliot toured the UK in the summer of 2015, returning home to another NMG Award nomination. His E.P Keep Going was released on 23 November 2015.
Since then he has secured radio play from BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 2 and made a host of festival appearances including ‘How The Light Get’s in and Homegrown Festival’ whilst also touring the country again in October 2016 and 17. 
2018 see's Elliot release his debut album, again produced by Dave Gerard and featuring some stellar musicians and a summer tour.

Evert Outen
After their second release Distraction, Evert Outen and band members Chris Booth and Jack Summerfield have been continuing to put on great shows in and around London. Evert Outen (keys and vocals) Jack Summerfield (drums) and Chris Booth (guitar) have been working together for over a year now writing new music and recording. After attending music college, each member pursued a full-time career in music. The band are creating a new exciting blend of Blues, Rock and Soul music led by powerful vocals backed up with captivating piano and rhythm sections topped with killer guitar tones and jaw dropping solos. Through their varied careers, the band have drawn from a range of musical influences such as Ray Charles, Paul Kelly, Steve Jordan, Ralph Salmins, Scott Henderson, Robben Ford and many more, to create a contemporary lyrically led rock and blues sound.

Frankie Swain
Frankie Swain is an Alt-Folk singer-songwriter. Armed with her acoustic guitar, Frankie has a distinctive sound and paired with her raw emotive voice, she blends the traditional ‘story telling’ lyrics of folk with a pop-country twist. In 2017 Frankie joined Steve Rodgers (son of Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers) on his U.K. tour and most recently Frankie kicked 2018 off with a bang, headlining at Camden’s famous Hawley Arms with her band to a sold out crowd. This is just the beginning of an exciting and promising year for Frankie.

Francesca Mondi Band + Hannah Elkins + Ben Eaton + Bashiyra

Francesca Mondi Band
Pizza Express Holborn welcomes the London jazz singer and a song-writer Francesca Mondi and her band for their first appearance at at the unsigned session. Drawing from the American songbook, samba and bossa nova, Francesca uses these influences to create her own compositions, resulting in a throwback to trad-jazz, blues and dixieland with an alternative, modern edge. The Francesca Mondi Band is an ensemble featuring accomplished musicians from all over the globe, from Italy to Azerbaijan, each member contributes their own influence for a set that is always varied, uplifting and unexpected!

"Mondi’s deep and soulful voice moves the songs on from their traditional form, and unusual arrangements with a fantastic backing band captivating the crowd... Hannah Elkins
Hannah Elkins is a singer/songwriter from Bournemouth bringing a fresh, soulful/ jazz feel, with a multitude of gig experience under her belt including: Sofar Sounds, Greenman Festival, Camp Bestival and Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club. Hannah’s music comprises of catchy hooks and vocal perfection in a vibrant performance, with gospel reminiscent harmonies and instrumental layers that let her voice shine. Now based in London, Hannah is working on several projects including her E.P which is set to be released at the end of the year. Hannah is thrilled to be performing alongside her band, making her debut at Pizza Express Holborn for an evening of incredible music.


Ben Eaton

Recently relocating to London from Australia, Ben Eaton’s original style, unparalleled guitar and looping skills have become a mainstay of the London music scene. After 3 solo releases with ‘The Ben Eaton Trio’ he is now performing as a solo artist with recent supports of Ash Grunwald and The Black Sorrows in Australia as well as a sold out support slot for the start of iconic drummer Ginger Baker's (Cream) 'Airforce 3' world tour at the Borderline Club in London. Emphasising groove with a strong focus on melody Ben’s shows are the perfect combination of style and substance. A foot stomping blend of soaring melodies, creative songwriting, virtuosic guitar playing and looping firmly rooted in the live blues and roots traditions. 


Versatility in style whilst maintaining consistency in standards is just one of the many things that distinguishes the talent that is BASHIYRA. Soulful, mesmerising, smooth, just a few of the words that describe her inimitable voice! A singer, songwriter, producer, she performs internationally with passport stamps from all continents showcasing an eclectic repertoire including neo-soul and jazz. BASHIYRA has an ability to captivate, move and entertain diverse audiences. An example of this was her rousing performance at The Opening Ceremony of The London 2012 Paralympic Games. BASHIYRA, a notable, worthy music world record holder and multiple award winning vocalist will be joined on stage for this intimate musical affair by piano virtuoso, Sharhiym Maalik, who possesses an outstanding ability in both compositions and the playing of his musical instrument.
