Lorraine gave up her showbiz career to start a family, and has raised three children, however about three years ago while in Italy, she had a chance meeting with Barbara Streisand, and this meeting gave her the drive to focus once again on her own music career.
Lorraine's two biggest influences are Barbara Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald. She has compiled with her band The Flames, a show covering many of the great melodies from ‘The Great American Songbook’. Lorraine's classy show has developed into a smooth and soulful blend of American classic standards, jazz and pop with a touch of Celtic flavour.
Her backing musicians, The Flames, are a four piece band, including some of the best musicians around today. The band includes: Robert Webb (piano) who was musical arranger for the hit musical, ‘Love Beyond’, which toured various venues including Wembley Arena. Mike Pratt (bass) who has performed at some of the top venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott's. Pete Roth (guitar) who apart from his musical session work is a lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music, and at both Goldsmith University and Chichester University. Finally John Martin (drums / percussion) is a most accomplished musician in his field. He trained for four years at the Australian National Academy, and has played with some of the finest bands worldwide, including for the last six years with the top Asian band, Graveyard Shift, based in Singapore.
