Acclaimed jazz and big band vocalist Louise Cookman presents her new show looking at the tradition of storytelling through music, from the jazz standards of the Great British and American Songbooks through to the songs of more recent songwriters such as Carole King, Tom Waits and Joni Mitchell. Accompanied by a trio drawn from the UK's finest musical talent, Louise performs an entertaining and reflective show that sparkles with all the warmth and charm for which she is known.

Louise Cookman is an acclaimed singer with a unique quality of phrasing, a knowledge of and passion for popular song and a tonal edge which sounds youthful, vulnerable yet full of experience and confidence; these things, combined with a love of communicating with a live audience and a sheer joy in performing, have made her hugely popular with UK audiences for over a decade. Louise started her career as a dance band and big band vocalist, specialising in the music of the 20s, 30s and 40s; she was the vocalist with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra for over five years, she was a regular guest singer on Big Band Special on BBC Radio 2 and over the past few years has had the pleasure of touring the UK as guest vocalist with the great American clarinettist Ken Peplowski and the BBC Big Band, as well as with The Glenn Miller Orchestra UK and Michael Law's Piccadilly Dance Orchestra. She has sung on Radio 2, 3 and 4, appeared in Period TV Drama, performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Cadogan Hall, both the Queen Elizabeth and Royal Festival Halls and made countless concert and cabaret appearances throughout the UK and Europe. She was recently also the featured vocalist on “Len Goodman’s Dancing Feet” and “Len Goodman’s Dance Band Days”, both for BBC4 television.
